About me

Ciao! My name is Laura and I’m Sicilian (Italy) living in London (UK). I am a digital media strategist and music lover.

In 2012 I graduated in Science of Communications in Catania (Sicily), Italy. During my degree besides the best fun time I had in my life, I loved attending the seminars creative sessions at University, where I started to create digital projects.

I always involved music in my projects, so I choose to write my final thesis about “Blues and the genesis of black music”, which focused on the roots and history of this genre.

In 2012 I left Italy to come to the UK to do a Master’s Degree.

Before starting the MA, I undertook a Radio Production Course at Point Blank Music College to challenge myself and concentrate on doing something that I love.

Finally, in 2016 I started the Master’s Degree in Digital Media at London Metropolitan University.

It was a beautiful year that not only challenged me but also made me proud of my accomplishments. During my studies, I volunteered at London One Radio, where I contributed by editing videos and co-presenting interviews. I also made an audio podcast interview with the founder of London One Radio.

At the end of my studies, I wrote my Master’s dissertation about the impact of new technologies on digital music consumption, which observed our music behaviour.

The purpose of my dissertation was to evaluate the impact of new technology on music consumption among a group of digital migrants in London. The study contributed to establishing theories on digital media technologies by investigating the music consumption of actual participants. The selected topic inspired me not just from a universal belief but also from my passion for the musical field.

From there I started to improve my multiple skills with internships and voluntary experiences. One of which was the Music and Event Management internship, which I organised a musical event for the artist Man Roccoco and label Rucklondon.

In addition to the music and event management, I also supported the creative team of RenkoLondon with filming for their social media presence.

Fast forward to 2020: In addition, to being a digital media strategist I’m also a producer and presenter at Amlak Live Radio.
