Who was born during the 80s I m sure will remember with pleasure Eurodance music. We just love it! It was born in the 80s and stayed high in the charts till the 90s. I bet that who has grown up with this music will start to dance as back in the day when listening to it again. Because the beauty of this music is the energy that gives you. At the time the parties, dance floors were full of people that had genuine fun, following the rhythm of the music. And everyone seemed to be happy. Today I believe is different. There is not the same energy and spirit. Probably because with the time things change, and so do people, consequently also music is changing too. There is good energy diffused by Eurodance songs, given by the positive nature of the texts that, even if short were the main theme, are life, love and true emotions. Positivity becomes an ever-present link even between song titles.

Why is called Eurodance? Truth is, Eurodance is influenced by the Uptempo HI NRG music of the 70s widespread in United Staes and the UK.  Eurodance is like the disco in the late 70s with blended elements from electronic, techno, reggae and rap. ( S. Panacci, 2014) For example, the reggae up-tempo vocals of the song produced by Roberto Zanetti Think about the way” or probably you remember it also as “ bong digi digi bom digi bom” of Alexia with Ice MC ( British rapper based in Italy). During the 90s, regarding the performances, it was frequent singing in playback. And I think this is the reason why was so common that many bands used a featured voice behind the “singers” on stages.

I always considered Corona for me the symbol of Eurodance, she was my favourite, “rhythm is a dancer” was hitting the charts. But, alas, a few years ago my myth is fallen, coming to know that the Corona ‘s voice of the first’s success was none other than the real voice of the Italian Giovanna Bersola a.k.a. Jenny B. Likewise, “ Think about the way” performed by the real voice of Alexia, but at the beginning, if you have looked to the video clip, the girl is not Alexia. But later on during the performances, I have seen Alexia singing on stage with  Ice MC. Which is much better because it looks more real and gives credit to the singer. To be honest, I don’ t really like the fact that for no reason, a featured voice replaces the real one to launch a dance band.

In Italy Eurodance has been a huge success so much so that later on it has grown and developed under the name Italo Dance that generated hits of Prezioso, Mollela, Gigi D’ Agostino and Gabri Ponte during the end of the 90s and beginning of 00s. I would say that Eurodance is in between the disco music with Donna Summer and the Italo disco with Gigi D’ Agostino of the late 80’s. Now, enjoy the show of this Thursday with the first showcase about Eurodance music.
